* More convoys, shutdowns planned by truckers to protest high diesel prices
Grain Valley,MO,USA -Land Line Magazine, by Clarissa Kell-Holland -April 14, 2008: -- Across the country, truckers are uniting to make their voices heard by organizing shutdowns, rallies and convoys aimed at garnering national mainstream attention to soaring fuel prices and low freight rates... In Indiana, truckers are planning a convoy on Monday, April 28, to Washington, DC, to protest high fuel prices... At least 50 Maine truckers plan to roll to DC later this month, too... Port haulers who protested high diesel fuel prices and the fact they weren’t getting 100 percent of the fuel surcharge on April 3, have planned another action. It is scheduled for May 1, according to one of the organizers. Some port truckers who deliver in and out of the nation’s ports on the East, West and Gulf Coasts are planning to participate...

Truck drivers gave visitors free ride-alongs, so they could get an idea of what it feels like to drive a Semi through the downtown area... Trucking officials say this event is a good way for the public to become acquainted with the industry...
