New rules - Australia - Let trucks haul more
Albury,New South Wales,Australia -The Border Mail, by DI THOMAS -2 July 2006: -- The Hume Highway between Albury and Goulburn is now open to heavy vehicles with higher mass limits... The new limits, allow standard semi-trailers to carry an additional three tonnes and B-doubles to carry a further 5½ tonnes... NSW Roads Minister Eric Roozendaal said the trucks would be allowed to carry the heavier loads on five selected routes, provided they adhered to rigorous safety and regulatory standards... Australian Trucking Association chief executive Stuart St Clair said the move would deliver a major productivity gain to the trucking industry...
