Higher Weight Limit - USA - Wisconsin Logging Trucks Want
Eau Claire,WI,USA -WEAU/TV 13 -28 Feb 2006: -- There's a difference of opinion on whether increasing the weight limit on state roads will benefit the logging companies and the economy or cause costly damage to Wisconsin highways... A bill allowing logging trucks to weigh up to 98,000 pounds has passed the Assembly and is before a Senate committee. Truckers would need a permit and an additional axle to carry weight up to the 49-ton limit... Local officials are worried the heavier trucks will damage state roads and increase the risk of accidents...
