Mumbai,India -Deccan Herald/Reuters -1 Nov 2005: -- Tata Motors Ltd is exploring cheaper ways to manufacture and sell its planned small car, but analysts warn that safety may suffer while profits shrink. Tata Motors plans to launch the low-priced car in about three years as it seeks a location for its plant... Tata group Chairman Ratan Tata has spoken of developing a “people’s car” that would be priced at about Rs 1 lakh, making it accessible to millions of riders of motorcycles and scooters who cannot now afford cars... Small cars make up more than two-thirds of India’s passenger vehicle market.
