Corruption - Germany - Two former VW execs spent company money on luxury trips, private parties

The report by KPMG International said that Helmuth Schuster, a board member of VW's Czech subsidiary Skoda and Klaus-Joachim Gebauer, who was with VW's personnel department, took luxury trips and hosted private parties and used VW money to pay for it, the automaker said... VW filed criminal complaints against Schuster, who resigned in June, and Gebauer, who was fired shortly afterward. Neither could immediately be reached for comment Friday but both have said in the past that they did nothing wrong... Volkswagen called in prosecutors earlier this year to clear up allegations that former managers set up fake companies in countries including India and the Czech Republic to defraud local authorities seeking business with VW... Chief Executive Bernd Pischetsrieder said Volkswagen will become a "more transparent company internally and externally." The company also plans to implement an internal ombudsman system to field complaints internally...
