TRUCK STOPS * UK - The lack of healthy food, a frustration for truckers
* England - Twice as many truckers as company car drivers want healthy grub
--- 4 in 10 lorry drivers are frustrated by the lack of healthy food at UK truck stops – belying the myth that all truckers want to eat is a fry-up... Indeed, while just 21% of company car drivers grumble at the lack of healthy food options at service stations, 41% of truckers rate the lack of low-fat, sugar-free food as one of their top gripes... The survey by RAC Truck Rescue is seen as a positive sign that the trucking industry is trying to overcome its unhealthy image – and help tackle recent figures that show almost 30% of truckers are obese or morbidly obese... Surprisingly, added the RAC, the lack of healthy food was a bigger complaint of truckers than other issues such as people using mobile phones on the road and drivers hogging the middle lane...
